CULTIVATING THE PRACTICE OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

PART 1: INTRODUCTION TO MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
Sundays, January 24 To February 21 – 11:15AM-12:45PM

$170.00 for 5-week series

Mindfulness meditation enhances well-being in its approach to mental calming and physical relaxation. This 5-week introductory program will help participants in developing the skills of focusing the mind, letting go of concerns, and fostering non-judgmental awareness of ongoing life events. Learning will be experiential through body awareness, breath-focused awareness, gentle movement and guided imagery. Handouts and a home practice CD will be provided.


PART 2: EXPANDING AND DEEPENING THE PRACTICE
Sundays, January 24 To February 21 – 9:00-10:30AM

$170.00 for 5-week series

This 5-week series is offered to those participants who have previously completed PART 1 of the Mindfulness series. It is designed to expand the foundational practices in mindfulness meditation with an introduction to some additional mental techniques such as: lovingkindness; meditation in action; reconnecting with basic aliveness; practice in relationship. Learning will be experiential through guided meditations and gentle movement. Handouts will be provided.


PART 3: SUPPORTING HOME PRACTICE
Friday, January 22 – 7:00-9:00PM
Friday, February 26 – 7:00-9:00PM

$45.00 per session

These 2-hour practice sessions will be offered ONLY to those who have previously completed PART 1 and/or PART 2 of the Mindfulness Meditation Series. The focus will be on supporting your Formal Practice at home and Practice in Life.


YOGA FOR BETTER BONES

Building and maintaining strong bones involves a lifetime regimen of proper diet and exercise. In this workshop, we will look at the role of movement in stimulating bone growth and explore appropriate yoga poses and safe weight-bearing & strengthening exercises which help to lengthen the spine, improve balance & posture, and reduce the risk of falls. Suitable for those with low bone density or osteoporosis, as well as those interested in keeping their bones healthy through prevention.

Do you or your partner suffer from low back pain? Help each other find relief with gentle relaxation massage techniques and learn how to effectively use pillows to support the body when experiencing discomfort.

All techniques will be practiced in loose, comfortable clothing. Please bring 4 standard pillows per couple.

YOGA AFTER BREAST CANCER

In this workshop you will learn, from a breast cancer survivor, gentle and effective exercises to help regain strength and freedom of movement as your body heals following breast cancer surgery and treatment. Learn how yoga can have a positive effect on treatment-related symptoms with an exploration of range-of-motion exercises, simple stretches, and breathing & relaxation techniques to open the upper body and ease tension. No experience necessary.


YOGA FOR PREGNANCY & BIRTHING
